Nabi 2S is the latest model from the company, and is introduced as an update for the original Nabi 2. So, what is actually the difference between Nabi 2 and Nabis 2S? The two kid tablets look extremely similar to each other. They come with similar sizes, colors, and even interfaces. Well, of course, there are several differences that set them apart. These differences are related to the storage space, operating system, and price. Continue reading below for the more detailed comparisons between Nabi 2 vs Nabi 2S!
Design and Specifications
First of all, let’s see the similarities of Nabi 2 and Nabi 2S. The new model still has the same dimensions as the original. It features a seven-inch display with an impressive resolution of 1280 x 800. The display has very good sharpness and color quality, and the capacitive touch screen is responsive and precise. And just like the original, it is encased in a red drop-safe bumper case to protect the tablet against impacts and scratches.
On the front, there is a 2MP front-facing camera for taking photos and recording videos. The primary engine is still the same, which is the fast and awesome quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 with 5th Battery-Saver Core, paired with 1 GB RAM. The tablet has a built-in mic, a 3.5 mm audio jack, a microSD memory card slot, and the Nabi connector.
If you are looking for a smaller kid tablet, you can take a look at our previous post Nabi Jr vs LeapPad Ultra. The NabiJr is smaller and lighter.
The most obvious difference between Nabi 2 vs Nabi 2S is the storage space. The original model only has 8 GB storage. Well, this is not a real problem, because it has a memory card slot should you ever need to expand the capacity. Besides, the 8 GB storage already makes plenty of room for saving your child’s pics and drawings.
But the increased internal storage of Nabi 2S is definitely a thing to be appreciated. The new model comes with 16 GB storage, which is twice bigger than the original. The much larger storage is great. It will allow your child to install more apps / games and save more files. This is a great choice if you want something that can grow with your child, as you can expand the storage even further by inserting a memory card.
Finally, the last difference between Nabi 2 and Nabi 2S is the operating system. The original Nabi 2 still operates on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, though some newer products run on Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean. The overlay still uses the old Monarch OS overlay.
On the other hand, Nabi 2S is already running on Android 4.4.2 Kit Kat. It uses the Blue Morpho OS overlay, which is the same thing used in the BigTab and the DreamTab. It has more updated content, and the performance is smoother.
